Gaza — Omar Abu’s life changed forever when war reached his neighborhood. Just two weeks after the conflict began, his family home was bombed. His aunt recalls the day vividly:
She was walking down the street when enemy forces suddenly attacked. Injured and terrified, she rushed to Omar’s home — only to find the house reduced to rubble. Inside, Omar’s parents, siblings, and relatives had all been killed, their bodies buried under debris.
Amid the devastation, Omar was found lying injured. His left arm had been torn from his body, and his entire face and body were burned beyond recognition. At first glance, it seemed Omar was gone too. But after urgent medical attention, by the mercy of Allah, Omar survived.
Yet survival came with lifelong scars — the loss of his arm, the destruction of his once-bright face, and the unimaginable trauma of losing his entire family. His beautiful childhood was shattered in an instant.
Seeking Treatment in Egypt
In hopes of saving what remains of his health, Omar’s aunt brought him to Egypt for advanced medical care. But life in Cairo has been extremely difficult. They arrived with nothing — no savings, no possessions, and no support system.
Omar requires constant medical treatment and rehabilitation. His education has not even begun yet, but as a Palestinian refugee, schooling in Egypt remains complicated and uncertain. His aunt, who herself was injured in the bombing, is struggling to manage daily expenses, healthcare costs, and the responsibility of raising a severely wounded child on her own.
A Plea for Support
Omar’s aunt makes a heartfelt appeal: for someone to take responsibility for Omar’s care — to help him access proper treatment, a safe place to live, and the chance to start an education.
MASTUL Foundation’s Commitment
MASTUL Foundation’s team is on the ground, identifying cases like Omar’s and directly delivering aid from the people of Bangladesh to children and families who have lost everything. We believe every child deserves not just survival, but a chance to live with dignity, to heal, and to dream again.
