Gaza. Once a city full of life, now a land of sorrow and destruction. Beneath the rubble, children’s laughter and young dreams have been silenced. Among the countless heartbreaking stories is that of a 16-year-old girl a survivor burdened with both pain and trauma. Standing beside her and many others like her is MASTUL Foundation, a Bangladeshi humanitarian organization extending aid to war victims from its operational base in Egypt.
MASTUL Foundation shared her story with us. The young girl, a student of grade eleven, said in a trembling voice, “Many of my friends and classmates have been martyred in this war. I survived, but I couldn’t save my hand.”
During a devastating airstrike, four fingers of her right hand were torn apart. Since that day, her life has been filled with unbearable pain. Even now, while receiving treatment at a hospital in Egypt, she spends sleepless nights crying in agony.
When the bombing began, her family took shelter in a school supported by the United Nations, where thousands had gathered seeking safety. But fate had other plans the school turned into a graveyard within moments as enemy forces bombed it, killing hundreds. She was on the balcony when the explosion struck, leaving her grievously injured. The most painful detail: her hand was operated on without anesthesia.
As advanced treatment was unavailable in Gaza, she was later moved to Egypt for medical care. At an age when she should be studying, laughing, and dreaming with her friends, she now pleads for help in a foreign land, saying, “Please, help me get better.”
Amidst this tragedy, MASTUL Foundation continues to stand by her. Their special team in Egypt has been delivering medical and financial aid to injured women, children, and families, supported by donations from the people of Bangladesh.
A representative from MASTUL Foundation shared,
“Every cry from Gaza echoes in our hearts. We do not want any child or young girl to suffer this way. With the love and support of the people of Bangladesh, we are reaching war-affected Gazans across Egypt with essential assistance.”
